We personally hand-select our coffee beans based on grower history, attitudes, and accountability from reliable certifiers. Most of our growers are registered with the Rain Forest Alliance Co-op. Our company selects coffee beans grown and purchased under fair-trade conditions. This means the farmers receive more revenue for themselves, helping them to continue growing our coffee beans under conditions we know is best for our customers. The majority of our coffee beans are shade-grown, which further seals in freshness. A coffee plant usually starts to produce flowers 3 – 4 years after being planted. From these flowers the fruits of the plant (coffee cherries) appear. The cherries ripen approximately eight months after the flower emerges, changing color from green to red. This is the time for harvest. Nature’s Flavors selects only red, ripe cherries at the peak of ripeness, which are picked individually by hand. Our coffee beans come from the world’s premiere coffee growing countries – Colombia, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Indonesia and Mexico.
