For our natural flavor concentrates, we recommend that our customers follow these guidelines to get the most from our premium line of concentrated flavors. Our recommended starting usage amount for flavor concentrates is about 0.25% to 3% by weight in recipes. These concentrated flavorings are affected by fat, sugar, and bulking agent content, so a little experimentation may be needed to get the perfect flavor for your taste!

Our natural and organic concentrates are potent. If you notice a minty, medicinal taste on your palate, or find yourself still tasting the flavor an hour after enjoying your creation, you've crossed the line from perfectly flavored to over-flavored. You want to tease the taste buds, not overwhelm them. 

Signs you've over-flavored:

Both work well for beverages, but the best choice depends on your specific needs. Concentrates are usually water-based. Extracts, containing alcohol and natural flavors, are best used for products containing minimal ingredients. They blend easily, and are ideal for subtle, nuanced flavoring for clean-label products. 

Extracts and concentrates have similar usage rates (extracts 0.25–4%, concentrates 0.25–3%), so start low and adjust to taste. Choose based on your desired flavor intensity, formulation base, and ingredient preferences.
