General Description: Lavender - (Lavendula Dentata) - This fragrant oil comes from lavender flowers. It is used in not only perfumes but also to a lesser extent medicine. The fine aromatic smell is found in all parts of the shrub, but the essential oil is only produced from the flowers and flower-stalks. It has aromatic, carminative and nervine properties. Though largely used in perfumery, it is now, not much employed internally, except as a flavoring agent, occurring occasionally in pharmacy to cover disagreeable odors in ointments and other compounds. Lavender has been shown to have many therapeutic qualities and is a relaxing, calming scent.

How It's Made: The oil is steam distilled from the flowering tops of the lavender plant.

Safety Guidelines: This oil is non-toxic and will not irritate or sensitize the
skin. Lavender, French should not be used directly on the skin. The oil should first be mixed with a diluting or carrier oil.
