At Nature’s Flavors, we’ve been developing not only extracts and flavorings but also fragrances, including our organic peppermint essential oil for over 40 years. Our team of flavor and scent chemists has researched the many benefits of peppermint essential oil or Mentha Piperita.

Some Asian countries have cultivated peppermint since ancient times. It's been used in Eastern and Western medicine for a variety of ailments, including toothaches, morning sickness, and cramping. The peppermint plant was brought to the United States early in the 19th century, and these plants were the foundation of what are today the largest peppermint growing centers in the world. Peppermint plants were largely first planted in the northeastern United States, now practically abandoned, and then in the Midwestern states of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin, all of which have decreased their production. Today, the far eastern states of Oregon and Washington are now the main producers of American peppermint oil. Peppermint essential oil is used as a flavoring agent in pharmaceuticals, elixirs, food, and beverages, especially chewing gum and confectionery. Organic peppermint essential oil is also used as a fragrance.

How Organic Peppermint Essential Oil is Made: The steam distillation of the fresh flowering tops of the peppermint plants is ideally removed slightly before the plants bloom and produce the oil.

At Nature’s Flavors, our essential oils, such as our organic peppermint oil, are highly concentrated with fairly strong strength. We recommend diluting the organic peppermint essential oil if using it directly on the skin to treat muscle aches and sensations of irregular heartbeats. The refreshing and soothing properties of pure peppermint essential oil help with respiratory systems by treating inflamed mucous membranes. Peppermint essential oil's benefits to the nervous system also include relieving migraines, and it’s recommended for nerve spasms, helps with mental exhaustion, alleviates general headaches, and helps with fainting and dizziness. The immune system benefits from pure, organic peppermint essential oil when battling the common cold and influenza. For any digestive issues, peppermint pure essential oil helps to prevent flatulence, increase appetite, help with cramps, relieve heartburn, reduce nausea, and is useful for colic. The benefits of peppermint essential oil also include helping the skin by reducing acne, helping with dermatitis and scabies, relieving pain from toothaches, and helping with ringworm.

Use our pure peppermint essential oil to add to hygiene products like toothpaste and mouthwash for a cooling, clean feeling. Excellent for focus, use a few drops of organic peppermint oil in a diffuser when studying or working. You can even add peppermint organic essential oil to cleaning products for a refreshing clean smell. If you want to create your own scent using our peppermint pure essential oil, it blends well with other fragrances and essential oils, like lemon, grapefruit, tea tree, and pine. Enjoy our organic peppermint essential oil for all of your aromatherapy needs.

Safety Guidelines: This pure peppermint essential oil is non-toxic and will not irritate or sensitize the skin. Nature's Flavors' organic peppermint essential oil should not be used directly on the skin. The peppermint essential oil should first be mixed with a diluting or carrier oil.
