What Are Flavor Concentrates?

Our high-quality concentrated flavorings boost the flavor of any culinary creation you are making. Simply add a few drops of our natural flavor concentrates to your creamy homemade ice cream to create a truly mouth-watering treat. You could also add a few drops to your culinary cuisine or to any beverage to enhance its flavor!

Use our concentrated flavorings to make delicious desserts, like cookies, cake, pie, and frostings. The savory flavor concentrates could be used to cook your favorite meal, side dish, or sauce. If you're only purchasing one type of product from Nature’s Flavors, this versatile, natural flavor concentrate is the one to get.

For our natural flavor concentrates, we recommend that our customers follow these guidelines to get the most from our premium line of concentrated flavors. Our recommended starting usage amount for flavor concentrates is about 0.25% to 3% by weight in recipes. These concentrated flavorings are affected by fat, sugar, and bulking agent content, so a little experimentation may be needed to get the perfect flavor for your taste!

You may find the following recipe for tailoring your flavor concentrates useful:
Begin with 8 ounces of water, and add 4 to 8 drops of 50% citric acid solution. Taste for proper acidity (orange or apple = more acidic; pear or banana = less acidic). Next, add 4 to 8 drops of our flavor concentrate, and sweeten to taste with Stevia Drops, Sweet Drops (AceK), sugar, or your preferred sweetener. Our flavoring concentrates are significantly more concentrated than our natural flavor extracts.

At Nature’s Flavors, our delectable, natural flavor concentrates are made with only natural plants and ingredients and never include any artificial ingredients, colorings, or unnecessary added sugar. Enjoy our flavored concentrates the way nature intended.

Natural flavor concentrates are the most versatile of flavors. They're good to add to water-based applications like:

  • Syrups
  • Ice Cream
  • Baked goods
  • Yogurt
  • Beverages
  • & Much, much, more!

Our carefully concocted flavoring concentrates are highly concentrated, so never eat them directly. Mix the flavor concentrates properly with the baking or cooking application, following the usage guidelines above. You should achieve desired results when using our natural flavor concentrates to enhance the flavors.

  • Have a similar concentration to flavor extracts
  • Liquid
  • Contain no added sweetener
  • Water-based
  • High heat stable
  • Look slightly cloudy (when used at small ratios, flavor concentrates shouldn't change color)
  • Ingredients - gum acacia/arabic, citric acid, natural or organic flavors
  • Refrigerate upon receipt
  • Store in a tightly sealed container at temperatures not exceeding 35⁰ - 40⁰ Fahrenheit. The concentrated flavorings are stable for two years if stored properly in a cool environment.

There are many signs that you can look out for to tell if you’ve over-flavored your creation with our flavor concentrates. If, while using concentrated flavorings, you notice a minty taste on your palate or a medicinal taste, you have over-flavored your product. You may have over-flavored your baked good or culinary cuisine if you are burping the flavor up an hour or more after you have eaten the finished product. If the beverage has a strong smell, or if it leaves a taste of wax in your mouth, you've over-flavored it!

The trick to making a product taste good is to give just enough flavor to tease the taste buds without overdoing it. Reduce all quantities of the flavor concentrate of your choice by half (except water), and start over. This is only a starting point. Food flavoring is not only an art but also a science and requires experimentation and practice to achieve the results you are envisioning.

Nature’s Flavors is committed to helping everyone achieve great end results with all of our products, including our concentrated flavorings.
